Nigeria’s tax identification system has entered a new phase with the introduction of the new 13-digit Tax ID. This new Tax ID now replaces the old 10-digit TIN and is designed to make tax identification easier, more secure, and more connected across Nigeria’s tax system. The Tax Identification Number, now commonly called Tax ID, is a unique number jointly issued by the Nigeria Revenue Service and the Joint Revenue Board for identifying individuals and businesses for tax administration, compliance, and enforcement. The official Nigerian Tax ID Portal describes it as a unique number issued in line with Nigerian tax laws for individuals and entities.
